Upcoming v0.6.5 changes


Hello everyone!

Wanted to post what you can expect with the next update coming for Pixel Hex Battle Tileset v0.6.5!

Within 7 or so days I'll be posting my first update on this pack in over a year (apologize for the delay). This first planned patch of two is going to include a variety of additional monster types and a variety of helpful GM markers. The update will come out as soon as I like the number of additional monsters in this update. The vast vast majority of monster additions have at least one variation, if not more.

New monster additions (not all listed):

  • Everyone's favorite eyeball monster (not to be confused with a beholder)
  • Illithid
  • Rusty bug monster
  • Some crab claw inspired demons
  • The jello cube of death
  • Owlbear
  • Turkeybear (Happy Thanksgiving and Native American Appreciation)
  • Snake-kin
  • Large grave wurms
  • Intellect devourers
  • Flaming skulls
  • Ropers/Stalagmite monsters (In hidden and attacking states)

New character additions (not all listed):

  • More thief looking chars
  • Barbarian whip woman
  • Chainmail mace woman
  • Dancer in red dress

New Game Master Markers:

  • Hex 'corner' tabs in all directions in six different colors (I should also add these to the pixel hex sets)
  • Hex outlines in 6 colors
  • X and O markers in 6 colors, including a center marker that fits into the O markers
  • 8 transparent hex covers
  • 4 hex hazard borders 
  •  Transparent height stands for 1-4 hex heights

Misc.:

  • A book stand
  • If my brain works, some other accessories

Final notes:

Obviously the markers at the moment make the majority of the new items at 80, but the current monster icons is over 50 right now. I'm still grinding out more monsters, so I'm hoping we'll get to an update with at least 160 new tokens?

On this update I'll be bumping the price to $5.99, as we're getting much closer to a complete set.

The second update, which I'm planning on having ready by the end of the year, will be (fingers crossed) dungeon delve related. Specifically, I'd like to figure out a system for walls so folks can put together building floor plans or craft dungeons. This means more environment assets, but few if any creatures.

Oooh, the markers will be very helpful, something I didn't realize I wanted. I'm also very interested in the bit about dungeon delving pieces. Would this also include general underground biomes/environments? It'd be interesting to see webbed territories, magma chambers, dark pits, glowing fungi, or other varieties of spelunking fun.

In respect to the hex outlines, would these be fully encompassing or segmented? It could be nice for marking territory borders.

The hex outlines are enclosed shapes, but I can look at doing a simple segmented line. Might be a bit of a pain to place down individually, but I can do that.

In regards to the dungeons question, yes I'd like to do some different tile environments outside of the traditional stone dungeon. I will keep an eye on your suggestions as I build them out!
